The PLFD Board of directors is charged with the administrative oversight of the department. The Board ensures that the Pine Level Volunteer Fire Department Inc is financially sound and adheres to all statutes that govern it as a state and federally recognized non-profit organization. The corporation is registered as an in-state non-profit and has received IRS 501 (c) (3) status making all contributions to the department tax deductable.
The Board is elected each year for a one year term with the Chief and Assistant Chief serving by virtue of their positions. The Board is permitted to authorize any purchase up to $5,000, with all purchases in excess of that being referred to the department membership for approval. The Board is also instrumental in establishing and managing the department’s strategic goals and future planning. The Board members are as follows:
Mr. Smith joined the department in 2010 and was elected to the Board in 2014. Mr. Smith is employed full-time at Prattville Truck & RV.
Captain Chambless was first elected to the Board in 1998 and has served each year since. Ms. Chambless is instrumental in developing the department’s public relations and manages the Fire Prevention Bureau on behalf of the Board. Mrs Chambless joined the department in 1997 and was first elected to the Board in 1998.
Mark Caffey-Fire Chief
Chief Caffey serves on the board as the Fire Chief. Chief Caffey presents the department’s operational goals and needs to the Board. In his duties away from the department, Chief Caffey is employed by Municipal Emergency Services. He can be reached at email@example.com.
Kenny Barber- Assistant Chief
